Ever since the beginning of 2021 BC has contributed positively to the Canadian immigration scheme, totaling the issuance of 5,782 ITAs for a provincial nomination.

The new invitations come through the coveted BC PNP Tech program an initiative of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP).

Those invited by the province must however prove to the Skills and Immigration Registration System (SIRS) that they exhibit the fundamentals of one of British Columbia's Express Entry BC and Skills immigration categories.

The basic stats of the applicants who received the invitation were that they had a minimum provincial score of 80 points and were mostly from the Skilled Worker and International Graduate Stream.

Those lucky 52 have a 30-day deadline to submit their application to the provincial authority for receiving the nomination.

From the testing phase to being permanent, the BC Tech Pilot has a promising future in the Canadian immigration pool.

Launched as a beta-testing model in May 2017, the BC tech pilot has now been realized by the Canadian federal government as a promising stream for skilled IT worker intake. The concept for establishing the pilot was to diminish the labor shortage of BC''s technology sector. This entailed the projection of labor market study to the access of talented individuals and scrutinizing these issues in the light of available foreign talent.

Having proved its purpose BC government proclaimed that they intend to keep this program -- permanent.

This fast-track pilot is focused on inviting skilled tech workers and international (tech) students for a Canadian permanent residence

Aspiring candidates must have an application registered in any one of BC's existing provincial immigration streams. The applicant must also have a valid job offer from a BC employer in any one of the 29 eligible occupations for a duration of12 months.

The tech-pilot gives out invitations on weekly basis to candidates with the highest score, who also meet the eligibility requirements of the province. After receiving the invite, the candidate has 30 days to respond with a complete application (inclusive of all the documents required for submission).

Further, it will take two to three months for you to receive a verdict on the application.

If approved, the candidates will be granted a nomination confirmation which can be further used to apply for a Canada PR.
