Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has increased its immigration application fees, effective as of December 01, 2025. These fee increases in the application may affect several immigration categories, including inadmissibility applications, status restoration, and the International Experience Canada (IEC) program, upon immigrate to Canada.
However, this update mainly affects the total cost of temporary resident applications, including international students and work permit holders who wish to restore their status.
Below, we will break down the fee structure that will help you get the information properly:

Under the International Experience Canada (IEC) program, outside the Canadian territory, the applicant can get a Canadian work permit that is valid for at least 2 years through any of the given categories:
However, these work permit fees are also revised as per the IEC work permit and are effective from December 1, 2025:

If you submitted your application before the new IRCC fees came into effect, your application will not be refused just because you paid the old cost.
However, IRCC will not begin processing your application until you pay the remaining fee difference. IRCC will send you an official request asking you to pay the updated amount. You must pay this difference within the deadline provided in the request.
If you don’t pay the difference on time, your application may be considered incomplete or risk being returned.

IRCC will only resume processing your application after the new fee amount has been fully paid. The automated request system ensures every applicant pays the correct updated fee.
