Each year every province in Canada issues invitations for provincial nominations that give support to the PR Visa application for skilled immigrants. Ontario has just released its allocation for 2021.
The federal government authorizes Ontario to make 8,350 applications, plus 250 more specifically for temporary foreign workers in occupations with a skill level of the National Occupational Classification (NOC) - C. These jobs generally require a school diploma. secondary or specific vocational training.
Ontario issued 8,054 invitations in 2020, despite the travel restrictions or any other COVID-related disruptions. In 2019, Ontario nominated 7,391. It was also the year that Ontario Immigration Minister Vic Fedeli pressured the federal government to award 13,300 applications by 2022.
2021 is already a revolutionary year for Ontario PNP. This year, the OINP launched an Expression of Interest (EOI) system for programs in its category of employment opportunities for employers. This means that immigrant applicants can register at any time for the chance to receive a provincial nomination through Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) that do not invite candidates from the Express Entry system.

Moving to Canada through Ontario PNP
Ontario is a major hotspot in Canada for immigrants. To help them move to the province, multiple immigration programs are specially designed to allow them to apply for provincial nomination.
PNPs were designed to allow provinces to meet the specific needs of their region's economy. As such, many PNP immigrants succeed in the Ontario labor market, often securing employment in their first year of arrival. A Statistics Canada study suggests that PNP applicants perform well in part because many of them have previous experience in Canada.
Depending on your skill-sets, you have to choose the right immigration stream. Some streams do not require you to be in Canada when applying, like Human Capital Priorities Stream. Others require that you have a job offer, or at least some domestic education, as in the case of the Master Graduate course.
There are two main categories of PNP. Basic PNPs, like the Employer Job Postings category, operate independently in the province. Enhanced PNPs, such as the Ontario Express Entry streams, invite applicants who have submitted profiles to the Express Entry system.
Getting nominated from the province does not guarantee a permanent resident status. It can however support your application. The final decision of your immigration application is made by the federal government.
Express Entry linked with OINP
There is a way to move to Ontario without applying to a PNP. The Federal government’s Express Entry program allows you to do the same. It was designed to speed up immigration applications and help Canada select the best candidates to become permanent residents and thrive in the workforce.
To apply through Express Entry, you must be eligible for one of three federal highly skilled programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Canadian Experience Class, or the Federal Skilled Trades Program.
Once you save your profile to the pool and upload all your documents, you will get a score based on your age, qualified work experience, education, language skills, and other factors.
Top-rated applicants are encouraged to apply for permanent residence through regular Express Entry draws.
