How does the Manitoba Skilled Worker Program work?

The Manitoba Skilled Worker Program is the primary pathway. This MSWP pathway comes under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). This will allow skilled workers to apply for Canadian PR.

However, the program is designed to meet the needs of the Manitoba labour market by choosing the applicants who can successfully settle and work in the province.

The program operates through two main streams:

  • Skilled Workers in Manitoba – for individuals currently working in Manitoba with a valid job offer.
  • Skilled Workers Overseas – for applicants outside Canada who have a strong connection to Manitoba, such as family support, past education, or work experience.

How the Process Works:

  • Candidates submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile.
  • Profiles are scored based on factors such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and adaptability.
  • Manitoba conducts periodic draws and issues a Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA) to top-ranking candidates.
  • Selected candidates apply for a provincial nomination.
  • After nomination, applicants submit their permanent residence application to IRCC.

A Manitoba nomination significantly improves the chances of obtaining Canada permanent residence.
