About Ontario's Skilled Trades stream

One of the Human Capital streams of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) run by the province of Ontario, is the Ontario Skilled Trades. The provincial nominations are sent to experienced tradespeople with active Express Entry profiles who are already residing in Ontario and have Ontario work experience in a skilled trade.

Those who are selected for the Ontario Skilled Trades Stream nomination process will be invited to make an official application for Canadian permanent residency. According to the federal Express Entry immigration program, this stream is compatible Canadian Experience Class (CEC). A candidate must have an active profile in the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) program through Express Entry in order to be eligible for the stream. Foreign nationals cannot directly apply to the program, it is by invitation only.

When applicants submit their Express Entry profiles, their Express Entry pool is automatically taken into consideration for this program. The candidates it invites to apply will receive a Notification of Interest (NOI) sent to their Express Entry accounts.
