The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) has recently announced an increase in the nomination processing fees for the worker stream only. The application fees for the skilled immigration category have been raised from $1,475 to $1,750. These changes to the application fees can take effect on January 22, 2026.
According to the recent update on the official British Columbia PNP website, applicants can submit applications only on or after January 22, 2026. If the candidates submit their applications before this date, they cannot pay any additional fees.
Therefore, the province has confirmed that no other fees within the Skills Immigration category have been revised, including request-for-review fees. Additionally, application fees for British Columbia Entrepreneur Immigration streams remain unchanged.
Applicants who are submitting their nomination application under the skill immigration stream will be required to pay the updated application fee:
Candidates invited through the Express Entry British Columbia pathways associated with the Skilled Worker and Health Authority streams will also be required to pay the updated application fee of $1,750.
All application fees must be submitted through the BC PNP Online portal. Fees are refundable only if the application is withdrawn before the assessment process begins; however, fees paid for requests for review are strictly non-refundable.
Applicants should also note that this provincial application fee is separate from the fees charged by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) at the permanent residence application stage.
The increase in BC PNP Skill Immigration application fees directly impacts applicants by raising the overall cost of pursuing permanent residence in British Columbia. Skilled workers applying under affected streams must now plan their finances more carefully. It is particularly those applying with dependents or relying on professional immigration services.
For some candidates, the higher fee may influence decisions related to application timing, stream selection, or whether to proceed immediately.
Although the fee hike does not alter eligibility criteria, selection standards, or processing timelines, it adds an additional financial consideration to the application process. Early-career professionals and international graduates may feel this impact more strongly.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to review the updated fee structure in advance and submit payments through the BC PNP Online portal on time. This factor in separate federal fees charged by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to avoid unexpected costs during the Canada permanent residence application process.
