What Does This Mean for French-Speaking Candidates?

If you are a French speaker in the Express Entry pool, then you are in a good position in comparison with other applicants, but your CRS score still matters. French draws have seen some of the lowest cut-offs of all draws this year, with cut-offs often falling approximately between 385-425.

However, if you get an ITA in the latest Express Entry draw, you have a total duration of 60 calendar days to complete the application for PR. If you are still waiting in the pool or planning to enter it soon, you might have a great opportunity if your CRS falls within the range of 382- 425.

If your score is presently below the given range, there are certain ways to improve your CRS score include:

  • Retake an official French language test score and improve your NCLC scores.
  • Improve your language proficiency score.
  • Gain more professional experience, either in Canada or foreign.
  • Obtain an eligible academic credential.
  • Maximise your spousal factor points, if applicable, including points for the second official language.
  • Explore the PNP pathway as it can add up to 600 points to your CRS score, instantly increasing your chance of getting an ITA.

If your profile could benefit from additional Canadian professional experience, or your French skills haven’t yet reached the NCLC 7 threshold, you can also consider a Francophone Mobility work permit in the meantime.

If you are planning to immigrate to Canada, then it is crucial for applicants to stay updated with every latest immigration information.
