Canada has held another French-language Express Entry draw, creating new opportunities for skilled immigrants seeking permanent residence.
The latest round of invitations highlights Canada’s continued focus on attracting French-speaking talent outside Quebec to support economic growth and strengthen bilingual communities across the country.
Candidates with strong French language abilities received Invitations to apply for Canada permanent residence through this category-based selection draw.
The update is especially important for applicants seeking to improve their chances in Express Entry, as French-language proficiency continues to provide a major advantage in the immigration process.
Canada has released the latest Express Entry draw on May 28, 2026, inviting 4,500 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 409, marking a significant drop this year.
If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.
Since the beginning of 2026, Canada has issued a total of 30,500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) through French language category-based Express Entry draws, highlighting the country’s strong focus on attracting French-speaking skilled workers. Below is the complete summary of French language draws conducted in 2026.

French Language Proficiency is among the categories included in Canada’s Express Entry immigration selection system, which aims to attract highly qualified immigrants who contribute to the development of francophone communities outside Quebec.
Under this selection process based on certain categories, Canada’s Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship issues invitations to immigrants with high French language proficiency to obtain permanent residency status despite relatively low CRS scores.
To be selected, an immigrant candidate should meet the mandatory minimum French language requirement, NCLC Level 7, across the four skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
At the same time, applicants should be eligible for one of the three Express Entry programs, such as the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class, or Federal Skilled Trades Program.
Thus, the selection process discussed is a valuable contribution to preserving Canada’s bilingual culture and to addressing labour market shortages. For some immigrants, high French-language proficiency becomes crucial to receiving an invitation to apply for Canada PR under Express Entry.
