Canada Holds Express Entry Draw for Healthcare and Social Services Workers

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted a new Express Entry draw. This was the second invitation round conducted by the department in June.

In Express Entry latest draw of the month, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 500 Invitations to Apply to candidates under the Healthcare and Social Services Occupations category. This draw continues Canada strategic focus on meeting critical labor shortages in high-demand sectors.

Express Entry Latest Draw: Result

  • Draw Type: Healthcare and social services occupations (Version 2)
  • Date and time: June 4, 2025
  • CRS score of lowest-ranked candidate invited: 504
  • Number of invitations issued: 500
  • Tie-breaking rule: March 31, 2025 at 06:47:23 UTC

If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off will depend on when they submitted their Express Entry profiles.

This marks the second category-based draw targeting Healthcare and Social Services professionals in 2025, showcasing how competitive this stream has become.

Targeting Critical Occupations

The draw is part of Canada’s ongoing category-based selection strategy introduced in 2023, allowing the government to target Express Entry candidates who have experience in specific sectors. For this draw, eligible candidates had at least six months of continuous full-time work experience or equivalent in one of 30+ listed NOC occupations either in Canada or abroad.

Some of these occupations include:

  • Registered Nurses and Psychiatric Nurses (NOC 31301)
  • Social Workers (NOC 41300)
  • Pharmacists (NOC 31120)
  • Dentists (NOC 31110)
  • Medical Laboratory Technologists (NOC 32120)
  • Physiotherapists (NOC 31202)
  • Massage Therapists (NOC 32201)

This targeted approach helps meet Canada’s economic and demographic needs, particularly in healthcare – a sector that has seen increasing demand in the post-pandemic years.

2025 Express Entry Overview by Category

So far in 2025, IRCC has conducted several draws across multiple categories:

  • Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) : 9 draws
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC) : 4 draws
  • French-Language Proficiency : 3 draws

These numbers underscore IRCC’s commitment to attracting skilled professionals based on Canada’s labor market needs.
