Canada Invites 229 Physicians to Apply for PR in Latest Express Entry Draw

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada -IRCC has conducted another Express Entry draw. This is the second Express Entry draw of the month. The draw was held to invite candidates from the Physicians with Canadian Work Experience category.

However, this is the 3rd physician-specific draw of the year. Unlike general Express Entry draws. This category-based selection focuses on applicants fulfilling Canadian work experience and specific professional requirements.

Furthermore, the relatively low CRS cut-off indicates how focused draws might result in opportunities for qualified physicians. The new decision also highlights Canada's efforts to retain qualified physicians who are currently part of the country's healthcare workforce.

September 3, 2026 Physicians with Canadian Work Experience 229198

Can Physicians With a Lower CRS Score Still Get Canada PR?

Physicians with lower CRS scores can still successfully obtain Canadian permanent residence (PR), particularly through Canada's physician-focused immigration policies. Under Express Entry, physicians with qualified Canadian work experience may be eligible for a dedicated healthcare category.

Moreover, eligible doctors must have at least 12 months of full-time medical work experience in Canada during the past three years, as well as meet Express Entry conditions.

They are then ranked against other candidates in the category, so having a lower CRS does not guarantee an invitation but could provide an opportunity. However, physicians without Canadian work experience can explore Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) and other physician-focused pathways.

A provincial nomination through Express Entry can add 600 CRS points, significantly improving the chance of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA). Therefore, a low CRS score does not automatically prevent physicians from obtaining Canadian PR.

Now is the time to optimize your profile and explore Physicians with Canadian Work Experience opportunities and take the first step toward Canada permanent residency.
