Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has invited more candidates through the Express Entry draw. The latest Express Entry draw is a Provincial Nominee Program-based draw. IRCC has started the year by prioritizing candidates already in Canada, including those with Canadian work experience or a provincial nomination.
However, in the previous year, Express Entry Program held 58 draws, inviting 113,998 skilled candidates for Canada PR. But as per the PNP draw, they held 24 draws, inviting only 10,898 candidates.
Canada released the latest Express Entry draw on January 20, 2026, inviting 681 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 746.
If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.
The following table highlights Express Entry draws held in 2026, outlining the draw dates, program categories, number of invitations issued, and minimum CRS scores required.
| Draw Date | Draw Type | ITA Issued | Minimum CRS Score |
| January 20, 2026 | Provincial Nominee Program | 681 | 749 |
| January 07, 2026 | Canadian Experience Class | 8,000 | 511 |
| January 05, 2026 | Provincial Nominee Program | 574 | 711 |
| Total ITAs | 9,255 |
Canada uses an online system called Express Entry to manage permanent residence applications under key economic immigration programs. An Express Entry round, or draw, is the process through which IRCC invites eligible candidates to apply for Canada PR.
Step 1: Create an Express Entry Profile: Applicants submit an online profile with details such as age, education, work experience, language skills, and adaptability. Based on this information, a CRS score is assigned.
Step 2: Enter the Express Entry Pool: Eligible profiles are placed in the Express Entry pool and ranked against others according to CRS scores. Higher scores improve selection chances.
Step 3: IRCC Conducts an Express Entry Draw: IRCC regularly announces draws, specifying:
Step 4: Invitations to Apply (ITAs): Candidates who meet or exceed the CRS cut-off receive an ITA. Provincial nominees gain additional CRS points, boosting their ranking.
Step 5: Submit PR Application: Invited candidates must submit a complete PR application within 60 days, including medical exams, police certificates, proof of funds, and work records.
Step 6: Application Processing: IRCC reviews applications for eligibility and accuracy. Most cases are processed within six months if the documents are complete.
Step 7: Receive COPR: Approved candidates receive their Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR), allowing them to move to Canada or become permanent residents if already in the country.
The Express Entry Program round follows a transparent, points-based system where higher-ranked candidates are invited to apply, making preparation, accuracy, and timely submission key to securing Canada PR.
