Newfoundland and Labrador has conducted its first draw of 2026. This is also the first invitation round, which invited candidates through its newly launched Expression of Interest (EOI) system. Canada continues to expand immigration opportunities for skilled workers through its provincial programs.
However, in the previous year, Newfoundland and Labrador invited 3,376 skilled candidates through the provincial nominee program.
This latest draw highlights the province’s continued efforts to welcome newcomers who can contribute to its growing economy while also offering them a pathway to Canadian permanent residence.
The latest Newfoundland and Labrador PNP draw held on March 06, 2026, issued 445 invitations, including 362 under NLPNP and 83 through the Atlantic Immigration Program.
In this latest development, Newfoundland and Labrador has conducted its first Provincial Nominee Program draw of the year, inviting candidates interested in settling in the province.
Moreover, the invitations were issued to skilled workers through the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program and the Atlantic Immigration Program, both designed to help address labour shortages and attract international talent.
The Expression of Interest model is a selection system used by the province of Newfoundland and Labrador to manage applications under the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program and the Atlantic Immigration Program.
Instead of submitting a direct immigration application, interested candidates must first create an online Expression of Interest profile. This profile includes important details such as work experience, education, occupation, language ability, and plans to live and work in the province.
After submission, the profile enters a pool where provincial officials review and assess candidates based on labour market needs and economic priorities. Individuals whose profiles match the province’s requirements may receive an Invitation to Apply.
Once invited, candidates can submit a complete application for provincial nomination or program endorsement.
Profiles remain active in the pool for a limited period, giving candidates multiple chances to be selected in future draws. This system helps the province choose skilled workers who can support local industries and long-term economic growth.
