The Expression of Interest (EOI) system is a key step in immigrating to Newfoundland and Labrador through the NL Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP). It allows individuals to indicate their interest in settling in the province by creating an online profile in the NLPNP portal.
Candidates provide details about their education, work experience, language proficiency, and ties to Newfoundland and Labrador, such as a job offer or previous study. Once submitted, the profile is entered into a pool and ranked based on a points-based system tailored to the province’s needs.
Newfoundland and Labrador PNP regularly reviews the EOI pool and issues Invitations to Apply (ITA) to candidates whose skills and qualifications match current labour market demands.
However, those invited must then submit a complete application to the NLPNP within a specified timeframe. If approved, the applicant receives a provincial nomination, which can be used to apply for Canada PR through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
The EOI system helps the province efficiently select candidates who are most likely to succeed and contribute to the local economy.
