Prince Edward Island nominates 127 new immigrants

7th PEI PNP draw invites applications from new immigrants through the province's Expression of Interest system.

Prince Edward Island through their scheduled immigration draw invites prospective immigrants for a provincial nominee program on July 15, 2021.

The province came forward with 127 invitations being issued to candidates under its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

A majority of the invitation went to the express entry stream and Labour Impact category with 118 candidates being issued a provincial certificate. Another 9 invitations came from the Business Impact category to candidates with the least score of 60 points in the provincial immigration system.

This was supposedly the seventh draw of the year and PEI has issued a total of 1,032 invitations to candidates. A surplus of 934 came from the Express Entry and Labour Impact pathways and the rest came from the Business Impact pathway.

Provincial nominee programs are meant for Canadian provinces to partake in the selection frenzy of highly talented workforce who meet the labour market needs of their specific territory.

The next set of draws will be scheduled for August 19, 2021.

About the PEI PNP Express Entry Category

The Prince Edward Island provincial nominee program is an enhanced immigration pathway i.e., it is aligned in sync with the federal government's express entry system. To be selected for this program an individual needs to have his/her online profile in the system.

The PEI PNP's Express Entry Category is a boosted PNP, which means it is allied with the federal government's Express Entry system. To be considered under this pathway a candidate needs to generate an online profile in the EE system.

The express entry is an application management system. It overthrows the previous paper-based application processing systems and handles case files under three major economic-class immigration programs:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program
  • Canadian Experience Class

Those who qualify for Canadian immigration get a CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score on their core human factors such as age, work experience, education, and language ability in English or French.

If nominated under the Express Entry program, candidates are destined to receive an extra CRS score of 600 points as a reward for being nominated by a province.

To be eligible for a PEI provincial nomination the PEI Express Entry candidates need to create an Expression of Interest (EOI) with the PEI PNP. The EOI profile is allotted points based on the province's points grid. The highest-ranking candidate is then given an invite through in the monthly draws.

Labour Impact Category

This category focuses on individuals who have received a valid full-time job offer from a PEI employer. The category is further bifurcated into three sub-streams:

  • Skilled Worker
  • Critical Worker
  • International Graduate.

Here also it is obligatory to submit an Expression of Interest to be considered for further evaluation.

Business Impact Category

Candidates who meet the minimum threshold of the provincial score can proceed with their application under this stream. The score in each draw differs as they proceed. The invitation for today comes from the work permit sub stream of Business Impact category, which entitles foreign entrepreneurs who desire to own and operate a business in the province.
