PNP Draw: PEI invites 143 individuals

The latest draw increases the total number of invites granted by Prince Edward Island this year to 1,337

The Province of Prince Edward Island held its monthly PNP draw on September 16, accepting 143 immigration applicants. The majority of invites totalling 129, were sent to Express Entry and Labour Impact applicants. Business Impact applicants with at least 72 points in the province's immigration system received the remaining nine invites.

This is the eighth draw of the year for PEI thus increasing the total number of invites granted this year to 1,337. Provincial nominee programs help Canadian provinces and territories to fulfil their individual labour market needs and the same is the case with Prince Edward Island, which runs its own Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) following the federally authorized criteria. Following the past pattern and future requirements, the next draw for the PEI PNP is scheduled for 21st October 2021.

All about the PEI PNP Express Entry Category

The PEI PNP Express Entry Category is an upgraded version of PNP which is primarily connected to the federal government's Express Entry system wherein the desired candidates should have a profile in the system, to be considered for this stream. The government of Canada manages immigration applications with the help of the Express Entry system. It is in charge of processing applications for three economic immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades, and Canadian Experience Class. CRS scores are assigned to eligible individuals based on their age, job experience, education, and English or French language proficiency.

Express Entry candidates who receive a provincial nomination receive 600 points added to their CRS score and are very certain to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in the next Express Entry draw. Express Entry applicants must construct an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile with the PEI PNP to be considered for a provincial nomination from PEI. To award points to EOI profiles, the province's specific points grid is employed. The highest scorers are then invited to apply via a monthly draw.

Labour Impact Category

Foreign nationals having a valid job offer through Prince Edward Island and employer support are eligible for the Labour Impact Category. There are three programs to choose from Skilled Worker, Critical Worker, and International Graduate. To be considered for a provincial nomination in the Labour Impact Category, candidates in this category must also submit an Expression of Interest.

Business Impact Category

To progress with their applications, Business Impact Category applicants must meet the criteria for the minimum provincial score. Each draw has a unique score. The invitations for today's draw were given by PEI under the Work Permit Stream, which is for international entrepreneurs who want to own and run a firm on the island.
