Alberta Issues New AAIP Draw Inviting More Than 1,100 Candidates

Alberta conducted several PNP draws between August 4 and 19. The province issued invitations under different targeted immigration pathways. The selection focused on technology, healthcare, agriculture, and rural workers.

However, the Alberta Opportunity Stream also gets significant selection activity. The highest number of selections, 743 invitations with a minimum score of 58, came from the August 14th draw.

Additionally, the August 19 healthcare draw issued 24 invitations to candidates. It became the smallest dedicated health care pathway selection this year.

These selections highlight Alberta's 2026 workforce-focused immigration strategy. The province continues to put emphasis on sectors with labour shortages across Alberta. Applicants who have received an Invitation now can apply for provincial nomination. A nomination will help them move closer to permanent residency in Canada.

Alberta AAIP Draws Target Key Worker Categories

Alberta’s immigration pathways play an important role in the province’s 2026 workforce and immigration strategy. Under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), the province chooses applicants that satisfy its labour market requirements.

The program recruits qualified professionals under different priority sectors, including technology, healthcare, agriculture, construction and rural communities. Different AAIP pathways allow Alberta to recruit professionals based on their work experience, profession, job offer, location and other factors.

However, these targeted selections help Alberta find the best skilled professionals who can support industries facing labour shortages across the territories and province.

Applicants who have received an invitation may be eligible to apply for a provincial nomination. A successful nomination can strengthen their pathways towards Canadian permanent residence.
